How To Write and Sell Books

This happens to everyone that ventures into the writing field. You might be a professional with deadlines. You may be writing a great work of literature. There will be times when you sit down and nothing happens. Many people have ways to deal with this, when it occurs. Some techniques are effective. Some are not. Here are some things to try when you seem to draw a blank.

Move

Get up from your desk and move around a bit. Do some things about the house. Take your Dyson all floors vacuum out and start cleaning. Take out the trash. Do anything to remove yourself from writing. You may get some nice ideas, and you will get things done.

Break time

After a few minutes, it is time to quit fighting it. You may only increase your frustration. Try something completely different. Take a short nap. Watch a DVD movie or television program. A few minutes of this, may be just what you need.

Notes

It may be a good idea to keep a small notebook with you. This way you can capture ideas when they appear. They have a habit of showing up in the most unusual places. For example, you may be placing your daughter in her Graco Snugride infant car seat. When she is secured, you can jot down the amazing thing that is on your mind. You may soon forget, if you do not.

Get a routine

This is often good for getting creative juices flowing. Go through a certain series of events before you write. It can be very simple. Take a few minutes to see yourself as a successful writer. Have a cup of tea or coffee. Get yourself used to associating your writing with an activity.

Start writing

Is nothing else working? Maybe you need to sit down and begin writing. Do not pay attention to what it is, just write. Maybe you cannot think of a thing. Look around a pick a subject. Look in books or newspapers for ideas. Perhaps a Singapore promotion will catch your eye. Start an article on tourism or travel. The main idea with this strategy, is to get into the form of writing. This may jump start ideas in your mind.

Every writer faces the frustration of writer's block. You may seem to be completely out of ideas. Do not panic. There are millions of good ideas still around. Try taking a short break. Take a nap or watch a movie. Listen to music. Do some of your household chores for some exercise. Bring a notebook with you, all during your day. If these things fail, sit down and start writing. Something will pop into your head, if you keep at it.
